I just purchased a new Rocket at the amp show last week from a great builder Don Morris.
He builds the Rockets and I had read about them and been interested from the first Guitar player review.
Well, I,am very happy with the simple design and tone,as this amp gets the great Marshall tones like I remember,I have been looking for an amp that can get Marshall crunch and Fender Cleans and this one does it.
The clean,s are able to get those Deluxe sounds and the great thing which I found on his circuit design is that the treble and mids and bass controls inter act to get some very interesting tones like if you set controls at 12 o'clock and then turn mids to 9 and bass to 4 and treble to 4 you will here some geat country tones that will sound very Fender crisp and jangle, this are O,clock setting not numbers settings,Turn mids to 3 and treble to 9 and now its bassman fatness.
So the controls create lots of different amp tones.
The lead channel is Plexi Marshall or overdriven Fender tones as per SRV had on his first LP,And you can gets the tones at lower volumes or full on volume.
Has a good master control,I have used the amp at 3 gigs so far and Very pleased with amp.
Hope you folks get to try one, remember if you do make sure to play with controls as they will groom your tones.

I've contacted Electroplex regarding this model. I would love to buy or hear one! Did you buy the combo?

Don really makes a nice amp. I remember when he first came out back in the '90s with his 4x10 model - that was one killer amp. Definitely an amp that's on my radar.

Yes I got a 1-12 combo with a GT-65 celestian, and purple tolex,if you ever in LA come by and try it live,I think you will dig the tones it has!:agree

These amps look really interesting. How do they sound at low volumes?

The amp is not much heavier then a deluxe reverb amp,Also I had Don change the Volume to be able to use gain set higher and have the volume be gradual so I can get overdriving tone at lower volumes, and that works so great.:agree

Played all (I think) of Don's amps at the NY Amp Show a year or two back and they are STELLAR. That opinion and $1 will get you a Whopper Jr, but there's no doubt in my mind that I have to have one at some point.

did anyone get a chance to compare a 35 EL with a 22? Besides volume, is there much of a tonal difference?

Also, any comparison to the 4x10 50 watter?

I thought I was over this GAS thing.

Similar but less headroom more like a deluxe reverb,I also played one of Don,s Rocket wit a 15" combo he had and I really liked that amp a-lot also.:agree
