The Cars generally make me laugh (not in a bad way) but damn, what tasty solos from that left-handed dude.

    One of my favorites.

Tight, concise statements and never obvious.

A nice balance of balls and taste.

Elliot is the MAN! He was something like 22 when 'The Cars' was released, unreal.

Leads catchy enough for monster pop songs, and clever enough for guitar nerds. EE is one of my all-time favorites.

Time for my semi-regular plug of EE's great solo pop cd "Change No Change".

Killer power pop, with songs co-written by Jules Shear.

Great play for the song musician. You know he posts frequently at the Les Paul Forum and uses his own name as a username. He is very forthcoming with info on gear and tone, etc.

His ripping statement in "Candy-O" is one of my favorite solos, ever. And he's got at least a half dozen others that are just as cool--"Touch And Go", for instance.

    Big fan.

The solo in Shake It Up is so good, it makes me turn up a song that strikes me as being at the top of the Cars "Cheesiest" list.

There's another great EE solo on Peter Wolf's first solo disc. Sadly, I don't have it to listen to anymore and I'm pretty sure its out of print. I do troll through ITunes for it on a regular basis.

Yeah, I like it too. IIRC, he uses two different guitars for that one. 1st half Tele, 2nd half LP?

I was just listening to him the other day and I was thinking, "This dude rocks!" Every now and then, when listening to the Cars, it dawns on me how good he is.

Amen...... Great album! I got it on vinyl back in the day and now have it on CD.

Great player. The George Harrison of his generation. Always adds the perfect guitar parts, never too much, never not enough.

And a hell of a nice guy to boot!

Can you get any more underrated than him? Jeez, talk about chops and melody. I grew up on The Cars and still have their albums.

Yeah!! Now I have to go dig out the vinyl.

I'm surprised he never put out any more solo stuff.
