Hi- I found an old ems hi-fli with foot controller. Everything seems to work, though it is missing the stand. I was hoping I could find information on it's worth and maybe someone who could go through the unit and make sure it's working as it should. Thank you
Jeremy

I believe that to be one of the rarest effects in existence, there is a section in analogman's book regarding it.

Someone will chime in knowing more...

worth a hell of a lot, especially with the foot controller

EMS is doing a very limited (and expensive) reissue of it currently so i'm sure they can sort out the one you have

I haven't found any prices online as to what this might go for- anyone know of a price for this thing?

It belongs to a friend- the original owner. He's letting me borrow it for a week to play with and do some research on. We tested it and it all seems to work, but I haven't played on it yet.

If I remember corrctly, there is some footage of David Gilmour using one on The making of darkside of the moon DVD.

You know Jeremy, they are so rare, that i think it's gonna be hard to find anyone who actually has one. I would maybe email the youtube guy, or the people at the link Nightraven posted, or try the David Gilmour forum;

analog mike from analogman has a good amount of experience with these, and might be able to help you sell it as well....

One of these turned up at our workshop a few years ago - the unit was missing it's foot controller and the owner was curious about us building a replacement. I found the site that NightRaven posted and passed it on to our customer - those guys make a replacement controller. It looks like they have a real resource - I'd recommend getting in contact with them. They've put the time in on these strange rare beasts and would seem to be the experts.

Good luck!

Thanks all! Everyone I have found who knows about these has been a little cagey- looking to be a buyer rather than a resource.
Peace

I just spent an hour trying to figure this thing out. I don't think all the sections are functioning properly. It sounds/plays insane! An alien univibe cubed! I'm gonna try and do some vids this week. Peace

I have one, to start place all of the bottom switches to "o" and bring down all of the sliders and start one by one bringing up the slider volumes and build the sound that way. Does the hi fli you have , have a "growl" switch? Thanks, Richards

This is an early mk1 with no growl. Steven at digitana was generous enough to email a manual so I've been able to figure out this device a little. Unfortunately I don't think all sections work properly.
I just did a short little clip of a cool sound I dialed in- check out my YouTube channel - jreeves47
The clip should be viewable shortly.
Peace
