    Hi All,

So just like the title says, I'm looking for an envelope filter / auto wah that goes very well with dirt.

I had a rubber chicken some years ago. Clean tone is awesome, but I didn't like the sound that much when using with dirt, it loses its quack, the sound is not defined and pronounced and it loses the peak range of the filter. Well I guess most of the filter tend to sound like that.

But is there such pedal though? Probably an envelope pedal with 18v capacity to lift the headroom might do the trick?

    Thanks a lot!

I wonder about the new Pigtronix Resotron Tracking Filter Pedal, and the upcoming source audio Spectrum Intelligent Filter.

I´m using the Henretta Green Zapper. Its very small, it works great with the volume/tone ctrl on the guitar and it sounds great both clean and dirty, humbuckers and single coils. I´ve had lots of different auto wahs, but I really like the fact that the Green Zapper have no knobs to tweak. It just sounds great out of the box (it has internal trimmers for sensitivity IIRC but I have never felt the need to open it up).

I really want a Boss FT-2. They seem to be going the way of unobtainium but occasionally you see them for under 100$.

My old MXR filter works great before dirt.

I have a bunch of filters and used Mutrons since the 70's
If you're using a loop switcher you could try a Guyatone Micro. Pretty raucous, and Guthrie likes them!
I also have a Subdecay Prometheus but that's more for experimental

    Love all your recommendations!

Right now I'm looking at Pigtronix's Resotron. Sounds wicked awesome.

Anyone ever tried that pedal? It's fairly new I think.

I don't recall how well it worked with dirt because that's not how I used mine when I had one - but the best envelope pedal I've ever even heard of is the long out of production Lovetone Meatball.

If it's good enough for Radiohead and Bootsy...

Love my Micro-tron III clean or dirty. Add an octave pedal and you can get some cool synth-like sounds

Proton stopped my search for that type of pedal in its tracks and I love it with gain.
