Hey guys,

I'm currently looking at an Epiphone Riviera Custom P93 'Limited edition'. It has 3 P-90's and, well, it's a Riviera. How good is the Epiphone Custom Shop? Is it worth checking it out? They seller is asking 400$. I have no idea which year the guitar was built.

Cheers,
J

It's recent bc that's a newer model.... Epiphone custom shop means nothing honestly, just a gimmick really... I do love epiphone hollow bodies but keep in mind this one is pretty heavy... I'd go with a casino personally

QC on these is all over the place. There are a ton of threads over numerous message boards about this model since it came out. I considered it for a brief period of time when MF was offering a free hardshell case, but I agree that I would like for a deal on a Casino.

I have one, have played many, and they're all great. The finish is awesome, and the Custom Shop stamp seems to mean better attention to detail. I also own a couple other "custom shop" Epis of recent make (I own over 70 guitars, from these to vintage Fenders and Gibsons as well as boutique builders; I'm no cheapie fanboi).

My only complaint about the p93 is that the p90s are dull sounding. I've tried a few replacements, and Gibsons sound the best to my ears. This guitar is super, super fun to play. It's like it was made for that B7.

I just saw that guitar in the MF catalog. I don't remember the price, but I don't think the guy is offering you much of a price difference from a new one.

Well, in Europe it's a different story. Guitars are more expensive here... I'll change the pick-ups if I have to. Thanks, I think I'm gonna check it out and pull the trigger if I like it! Thanks for the info! I love TGP.

Yeah, they're 400 euro's over here.
The P93 is a nice guitar, got one myself. Finish is stellar, setup is horrible. The pickups aren't too great, but it's the covers that's really bothering them. THey're metal, takes off quite a bit of top end. The three volume setup is not working so good, I preferred to simply dial out the middle pickup. Only muddies things up.
Anyway, it looks great and sounds reasonable stock for not a lot of cash. If you like to be flashy on stage: do it.
