I've long been a fan of that great hard rock rhythm part that comes in mid way through the song. I assume it's Steve's plexi + some very well done studio EQ. Does anyone have an idea about what graphic EQ setting would make for a good approximation of that tone in conjunction with a Marshalesque amp at a similar gain setting?

In the video for that song he has a synth guitar, so it might not be a typical amp sound you're hearing.

Yes it definitely double tracked to my ears at least.

One pedal I would think could come close is VFE triumvirate, when dialed in right it can sound like a dual amp setup.

But that sounds so unique I would think a real dual amp setup would be essential, a dry amp dialed in thin and trebly and then 2nd amp with a pitch down detuned chorus and a compressor on 2nd amp would get you there, I think.
