Nice to have friends who look out for you!

My old college roommate just called to let me know he bought tickets to this show. Back in the day we saw Eric Johnson countless times, so he (rightly) assumed I’d want to go.

Looks like they are playing a second show on Monday, August 26th. I have not seen EJ with this lineup (except Roscoe Beck!) and thought I’d post the info for the Austin folks... or for anyone who happens to be passing through at the right time.

Not sure. I’ve never been to this venue and my friend said we had purchased “reservations” but that our seating was not specified.

I’m thinking this might be a pretty small place, and thus difficult for a proper video rig.

I went to college with the drummer. He was a great player, who got into scientology, and the next thing you know he was on the road with Chick.

    Indeed.

EJ shares a lot on Instagram, so maybe we'll see some of it through that.

Yeah, I saw the ad for it last night on Instagram.

He was holding a burst ES137 maybe?

Would love to hear him play jazz.

    Yeah saw that too.

Could he play over complicated changes?

*EDIT - I'm sure he can, but to what level?

Wes is one of his influences.

Considering how long he's been at it, and his level of technical ability, I have no doubt he could pull it off.

His documented forays into jazz, w Mike Stern, playing the odd jazz standard with his own groups, doesn't make the case for him as a jazz player. Fusion I can see, and of course the man is an incredible talent and player so who knows. It'll be interesting, given that we're talking about a player of that stature.

And like @Bluesful seeing Brechtlein and Beck together again is kinda exciting

    For sure.

Robben Ford has stated that he doesn't really have any interest in getting the Blueline back together, so this is as close as we're going to get.
