Anybody else have this pop up?
Its driving me nuts...its "Initialization Error Code -7" and then "the application was unable to start correctly 0xc0000142"

I would really like to get this up and running so I can use it for church tomorrow, but I've tried everything and Google searched to no avail.

I'll be calling Avid as soon as I am out of class....I figured I'd check with you guys first though...and tips or possible fixes?

Thanks!

but sometimes I will get random errors and what I have found helps is to hold down the N button when opening protools, this will bring up the playback options menu and you select the device you are using for playback. Don't know if it will make a difference or not, but it is something to try while you are waiting for a response on the DUC

Thanks...so far I've had 72 views on the DUC, but no replies...somebody has to know about the issue, this is getting ridiculous.

And its also absurd that you have to pay to be able to contact the support people at Avid...so I pay for the product, and then I have to pay you to help me fix it when the stupid thing doesn't work??

Come on people...

The second half of the error makes more sense..'error 0xc0000142'.. this is usually caused by corruption of some sort. Worst case, backup and reinstall. If the program is corrupt or something is corrupt on your HD, SDD, flash or iLok key etc, could have something to do with that error. But I am assuming you have already the obvious of re-installing etc..

Ok, so I've had some issues with PT10 when I unboxed my 11R. Although I was able resolve all my issues with it, I can tell you PT is quite finicky.

With that being said, can you tell me what is your machine's configuration? Machine specs? Can you take a screenshot of the problem when PT is loading? Generally, you'll be able to pinpoint the problem when it loads because it tells you what's going on. For me, it was a VST that didn't want to load properly. Once I moved the folder to a different location, the problem went away.

Yea...thanks for the help!
However, I've actually decided to buy a MacBook Pro so I can use Garageband and Mainstage :D

Seems kind of a step down, I love Logic, but Garageband is nowhere as good at Protools.

I have a feeling Win7 just won't run older versions. I'm running PT9 on Win7 64 bit with no problems installing or running. Never even tried 7 or 8, and I remember Protools basically forcing me to upgrade to WinXP to run V7.

Also, you do have a PT interface? I can't remember if V7 needed to have a digidesign interface attached or not, I believe you need at least an mbox or something PT sees. They called the mbox an interface, I call it a huge dongle.

Not a step down at all IMO...the only reason I need this stuff is for running keys/pad sounds at my church. I used my USB M-Audio keyboard with my buddy's Mac and Garageband the other night and it sounded great with some minimal tweaking.

I like simplicity.

Plus, Apple stuff is way better/more reliable for live use.

simple yes, to some. proprietary is also issue for others.

best in reliability not always true. apple is like other products and about 1 in ten will go bad or be returned for repairs. its just how electronics is. my bil is dm for large electronics co. they return rma about 8 percent of apple products, dell, hp, toshiba etc.

apple is little more friendly to audio than asio is for windows. otoh there are win 7 sys running 64 bit with more ram that perform as well as higher end mac pro desktop at 1/5 cost. pro tools limit is still 32 bit iirc. studio one, sonar x2 etc are full 64 bit daw.

fwiw native software is not really as same quality as higher end pro tools desk hardware. most pro studios will create their own sessions even for pt home/logic users.

so were you able to fix the code:-7 message ?. i need this info too. i also have the same problem

i have heard this to be problem with plgin not working. remove plugins that are not rtas and try again. if using vst wrapper (fxpansion), remove it, try again.

if you have unlicensed versions of vst also, it will not work. buy a licensed product and see if that helps. not a good idea to take them from internet anyway. many are corrupt and will ruin systems. some say software co's are fighting back (try to defeat piracy) and seeding very corrupt files.

Hey guys...yea, I returned mine cause I really don't want a product that doesn't work at the start - and has reliability issues even when it gets working apparently.

I'm in the process of getting a Mac and running Logic.
