What kind of sounds is the high gain channel on an Ethos capable of? Can you get a good tight, crunchy, rock rhythm sound?

Its pretty good for leads, but felt a little too mushy and compressed for heavy chord work

I have the TLE and I don't think it's mushy. I can get good & clear chording with it. I just want to say you have to spent time w/ it. When you do for sure you could find something you love as a tone. Yes, I can get cruchy rythm with mine. Just my .2 cents and no harm intended.

Can it be further tightened/boosted with a clean boost or light OD?

    :agree

Very compressed, and not ideal for rock chord work.

Much better option is to run a dirt box in front of the clean channel.

^ yeh sorry I should have clarified my post...it doesn't do rock chords well but easily handles. Jazz voicings, just didn't have the right bite for it to work well in that context, but. I agree about the boost before it also
