Dude had to be carried off on a stretcher!
uhh....no, I thought they used protection......
Took one of those triangular bike seats in the junk landing a jump on my bike as a kid. The seat was loose I guess, it tilted up as I landed, I hit it pretty well full force. I screamed and rolled around for a bit. Didn't jump that bike ever again.
just watching that was bad enough to make my balls ache
Of course but it still hurts like MF'er.
I took a puck down there about ten years ago and saw stars, thought I was going to have to go to the hospital.
And that was with a cup on.
I did when i was like 12 or so. Took a hardball line drive off the nads, no cup. It hurt like hell but I did not need a doctor or anything.
There's no protection for a shot like that... and yes, I have. In fact I am crying with the memory of that pain.
Ouch! Right in the wedding tackle!
I played Junior A hockey, one of our goalies took a slap shot to the bolce and it broke his cup, his nut swelled to the size of a grapefruit, he was in the hospitol for quite a while and missed two months of playing.
he was wearing a proper goalie jock, but it still broke.
when he came back he wore a special steel cup over top of a normal goalie cup.
That was terrible. But at least now I know Japanese for "Oh my God, right in the nuts."
Never got hit there in baseball. But while I was calling a Little League game (years ago), I took a foul tip in the face. It knocked of my mask and sent me to the ground. I took me several minutes before I could see and think clearly enough to continue the game.
Once in Junior High I was trying out as QB for the football team (didn't make it). We had a practice in the gym one day. We were taking practice snaps - and I had forgotten my cup. The center knew it, and snapped the ball a little further back than was normal. By the time I figured out what he had done, I was on the ground in agony. The rest of the team was doubled over laughing.
Whoa! Double layer!!!
I hope he was wearing a cup. If he was, then he was probably in unbelievable pain, but he should be "structurally sound", as it were. If he wasn't wearing a cup, then wow. That would be some damage. I remember that pitcher from when he played in MLB and he throws very hard. A foul tip like that wouldn't slow that pitch at all.
When I was playing high school lacrosse we had a second string goalie that had never played in a game. We were winning pretty good so the coach put him in.
We played on the varsity football practice field and it had rained the night before. Just in front of the goalie box was a puddle of muddy water about 6 inches deep and 6 feet in diameter.
We were playing this team with a senior that went to University of Virginia and was all-american a few years later. This guy was really amazing and definately in a league of his own among the 2 teams.
He played mid-field (both ends of field) and got the ball on his side and was in the lead so he is running full speed about 50 yards and takes a side shot that flies out like a low line drive. It hits the ground just in front of the puddle where it is dry and bounces up and hits the goalie right in the balls who was not wearing a cup.
It was like someone had killed the goalie. He just fell frontwards still holding his stick face first int the muddy water. Then he grabbed his groin screaming while writhing in agony.
When they finally got him up his face, face mask, and front of helmet was covered in mud. They had to take his helmet off to clean it and him.
That ball was so fast he never had time to react to it.
It was not thankfully as serious as ones mentioned above, but it had to be the funniest. He sat out the reast of the game.
Look on the Pitcher's face is like; 'That's for Pearl Harbor, Dood...'
Yeah it's happen in the Majors
Could not watch.
And yes, with a hardball.
I bet he wishes that baseball was deflated.
