    Hi,

It's been some time since I posted a tune and a backing track.
That's due to two bad things.
    1. My son got shot in the eye with a pea shooter. He may have some problems in the future but did keep his sight. This was a nerve wrecker to be sure.

    2. Problems at work. Reorganization where my group will move to another city. Perhaps another country. Talk of lay-offs. Not a good situation for a family provider. Frankly, it sucks.

Now when I did get around to a new tune I kept exploring the possibilities of different gain situations with my Pacifica 612v and the result can be found here:
    Simply Not So

As I enjoy hearing your takes on my stuff I have put a backing track here:
    Simply Not So Backing Track

Looking foreward to takes and comments!

    Cheers,

    Mats N

Sorry to hear about your son and your job. I'm sure everything will workout. Kids are pretty tough. Looking forward to working with that backing. I'm trying to put some Christmas stuff together for a family CD. Wish me luck.

    Hi,

    Thanks for your thoughts.
My son will probably/hopefully live the rest of his life w/o problems but at this early stage before things in the eye have really settled it's hard to be sure. He's scheduled for another check-up in a few months so we're just hoping for the best.

Writing and recording is the best way I know to keep problems at bay for a short time to gather my strength. The Gear Page is a gift where I find an outlet for some positive energy while I get a lot of positive energy from the people here.

    Thanks again!

    Cheers,

    Mats N

Nice playing and backing track. By pea shooter do you mean like a blow dart pipe cause that would be pretty bad. Hope his vision comes out alright.

    Hi,

    Thanks for listening!

Yes, that's right but they use hard yellow peas as ammunition. His vision is OK as we know it today and we hope it will continue to be that way.

    Cheers,

    All the best Mats!
I hope that your son will do good, they are amazingly good at getting fixed those kids;)
My three girls are also trouble, broken arms, small objects finding their way down to the stomach..uh man;)
    Great tune and good playing.
I hope that the job situation will either spin into new territories or that you might end up keeping it.
    Best regards Niels

When it rains, it pours, eh Mats.:(
Prayers for complete recovery and better days ahead.

VERY cool backing! Nice build up on your take...very effective use of tone to build dynamics. I've never quite gotten the hang of seamlessly changing tone within a song, but obviously you have.:dude

    Hi Norm,

Yes it pours. Yesterday my other son was prescribed penicillin and got an allergic reaction. Sort of scary in another way. Thanks for your concern. It warms my heart that people I have never met comes foreward with hope for better times.

Regarding my backing track, this is sort of funny.
I'm not too fond of this tune myself as it was hard to write, record and mix. But it seems like people at the forums where I've posted it enjoy it. Strange. Other songs I've written and am proud of just go unnoticed. Can't figure it out. Maybe I'm just another poor misunderstood artist. :D

    Cheers,

    Hi Niels,

    Great tone!
Playing all those protos must be a real pain? :D
Liked the intensity of your playing here.

Did you use the Marshall or the prototyp recording device?

BTW did you go to the Lukather gig in Aarhus last night?

    Cheers,

    Mats,

very nice, smooth transition in tones throughout. I too really dig this track - I like the way it just keeps building over the fairly static backing.

Maybe I'll get a chance to record over this BT soon. :)

    Keep up the good work!

    Hi Kevin,

    Thanks again!

I'm in the process of writing new BTs. My problem is deciding which idea to go with first. Seems like I get new ideas for tunes every day and it's hard to do them all. Luxury problem? I guess so.

    Cheers,

    Mats N

    Hi Myles,

    Thanks!

It seems like his eye will get back to normal.
According to the doctors he will not lose any of his sight which is a blessing to him (and his parents)!

    Cheers,

    Mats N

    Mats,

all my best wishes for a fast recovery of you son's eye. I have a 2 1/2 year old boy myself.

Regarding work, I sympathize with you fully since I have one of those highly competitive, unsteady high-tech jobs which are not safest thing to be in if you live in Europe.

    What you just said here:

is why I resumed playing after I packed it in back in 1989.

    Best of luck.

    Marin
