For a PC, what brand would be good that would run quiet and be used for the main audio file storage drive.

    160 GB 7200 RPM USB 2.0

    Is Maxtor worth considering?

    Thanks

I'd suggest one with an 8mb buffer. Maxtor makes one, as does WD. I had a run of bad luck with Seagate drives but that was a while ago. That said, I have a P1/100 (that's right, a pentium 1) with two seagate drives that's been running 24/7 for years without problems.

I've been suggesting the G-Tech drives lately. They're fanless/convection cooled and the specs are as good as anything out there, better than most.

personally I've just grabbed a HD and an enclosure slapped em together and voila nice little external HD.
have done a fan style and convection style like the latter because they are smaller.
All in all nowadays it is hard to go wrong with any of them, I'd just make sure it fits your price point.

    yup.

i recommend Seagate or Samsung hard drives due to their inherent low noise, cool designs.

that being said, i'm a seagate, maxtor, and western digital reseller so i'm kinda partial to those. :) i've had 3 SATA Seagate drives that have been running for 2 years 24/7 without a problem...
