Dunno about fake, but something weird is going on on the back of the neck. Break maybe? Terrible, dark pics make it hard to tell.

I've never seen an R9 with such a meh top. And, the "Les Paul" signature looks too far to the right/top to me.

You get a black plastic spare in the case for if you want to keep it more traditional, plus they only started doing the custom shop metallic covers around 2011/12.

Crappy GC pictures aside, nothing fake about it. Have Gibson verify the serial if you feel so inclined.

Call them, email them, tell them it’s fake so I can get it for $1500. Shoot from the hip experts have led to me getting great deals over the years.

This has had a neck break and a headstock refinish. Looks like they used a decal instead of silk screening the les paul logo. It has reinforcement wood inlayed along the break line and overspray/refinishing on the back. Clearly a historic les paul otherwise.
Historics use a holly head veneer on the front, vs plastic for all the standard gibsons. The holly just snaps and can often be really ugly. The plastic ones bend and usually can be straightened with little to no finish damage from the front.

inlays look like mid 2000’s. The top probably has flame at a different angle - this is some notably terrible photography, even for gc!
