I was discussing with another guitarist yesterday, and he was very sure that alost all guitarists use a lot of stuff...

I told him guys like Jeff Beck, Jimi Vaughan, Jimmy Herring, and a lot more, use just some pedals, not 10-15 as he said.

That put me into thinking, which great players, with great tone, use little stuff.

    Thanks

You mean like Derek Trucks, Billy Gibbons, and Buddy Guy?

Jimmy Herring has had a W/D/W setup with an Axe FX recently.
Jeff Beck has a bit of a signal chain with a couple delays according to a recent rig rundown.

Are we talking more like Hendrix Ony wah, fuzz, vibe?
    SRV, Wah-TS9-chorus?

You mean a TGP thread not specifically designed to nuzzle David Gilmour's fuzzy bean bag????
    I......I....just don't........don't know what to.......do........

    Keith Richards, for one.

    Nuno Bettencourt
    TU2, Rat, OC2, GT8

The obvious Angus / Malcolm Young

    Lincoln Brewster
    X3-live / HD500

Keith Scott for the most part
    TS, Brown Source, CH1, delay

Keith Urban (on some smaller shows. Which to me means that he can get by with this..)
    Ego Comp, 1 or 2 od's, M9

Infact, most players I like have very modest setups compared to most posts in the 'show your pedalboard' thread... :)

Tom Morello. Narry a TGP approved pedal in sight :(

    Jack Pearson

Jack White - depending on the gig/band

Running sophisticated multi-fx/amp & cab emulation rigs with preconfigured series/parallel fx & stereo options does not strike me as "minimalist"

Jimmy Herrings rig seems kind of complicated. Any rig rundowns with Widespread Panic? I watched one with his solo band and the rig seemed kind of similar just Fender instead of FUCHS.
