Have a few in mind but................. one in particular.Long thought to be damaged beyond repair. But its alive and well......somewhere.Anyone else have a favorite players guitar thats gone missing into the mists of time and have you wondering.......... hey wonder whatever happen to that guitar? Many famous guitars HAVE been accounted for but many have not............food for thought.

The Peter Frampton Les Paul story is extremely cool, especially if you dig out the MLP thread where it originally played out. Beano is the obvious one in terms of famous guitars still missing in action.

Yeah, but of the 19 guitars that went missing, 577 were finally recovered and sold.

I often wonder about such instruments as . . .

    Chuck Berry's ES-5
Mike Bloomfield's '59 Les Paul. (For that matter, the '54 goldtop he traded with $100 to acquire it in the first place.)
Alan Wilson's (Canned Heat) '54 Les Paul goldtop with the STP sticker between the pups.
John Cipollina's (Quicksilver Messenger Service) custom-pickguarded SG.
Wes Montgomery's L-4 (the one he's shown with on the cover of The Incredible Jazz Guitar of Wes Montgomery, before he moved to L-5s.)
Ian Hunter's (Mott the Hoople) "IH" guitar.
James Jamerson's Fender Precision Bass (the one he nicknamed "The Funk Machine," stolen shortly after his death).
Jack Bruce's red Gibson E-3 bass (the one he played in Cream).
    Buddy Holly's Stratocaster.
    Grant Green's Gibson ES-330.

Batwing SG is on display at the rock n roll hall of fame, along with the rest of Cipollina's rig.
Or, so it would seem. .

Bloomfield's burst is in the hands of a collector. Someone in those "circles" has seen it. But will probably never be seen publicly again.

Ed King's guitar story is a good one.
