Isn't Springsteen's Tele is actually an Esquire with a neck pickup as a later add-on?

Luther Perkins of Johnny Cash's band used an Esquire.

Jeff Beck:

Syd Barrett with Pink Floyd:

His replacement David Gilmour also used an Esquire (most notably on "Run Like Hell") but he added the neck pickup.

Can't forget Gilmour's Workmate Esquire... Though admittedly it had a neck pickup added.

EDIT: ...The above post just showed up for me. Great minds and all that.

When I first saw Pink Floyd he used a butterscotch Tele or Esquire on Run Like Hell. I don't recall the 2nd time.

Gilmour currently plays One of these Days on lap steel but in the 70's he played it on a Tele or Esquire using a slide. I'm not sure if it was this guitar though.
