Just looking on their website (Rawson, not Matamp) it has a page for a Harry Joyce amp.

TBH - I am assuming it's all in Holmfirth, whether Matamp or RS, I might be wrong.

Well it will be Matamp in Meltham where I take my amp but I will be ringing Jeff before I go and will be asking all about his speaker venture. Thanks for the info.

Looking forward your report from your visit there then :beer
Just visited their website, one of those WEM 4x12 replica would look nice in the rig! Too bad the old original ones are so hard to come by, I think they look fantastic; loved those since the first time I've seen David & Pink Floyd play that live at Pompeï.

    Quick update.

In the end I went for the Cream, in a Lean Business Montage 212 cab.

I know its not a Fane Crescendo, and maybe I will one day get a Hiwatt style amp and a set of Rawson Sparfeilds :)

Anyway, the Cream is brilliant, if I had to use only one word it would be ...... Crispy !!!!!!!

I'm running two 2x12 cabs loaded with Creams and my Matamp head.

They are the best speakers I have tried with this amp and I LOVE them. Every single day I am amazed how good my amp sounds.

Has anyone compared the Starfinder and the Hi-Tone Crescendo? I had the the Hi-Tone and thought it had a very peaky high mid presence that I found to be too way much, and that's coming from someone who likes mid-forward speakers. It couldn't come close to my GPA 417-8H for fidelity and overall balance.

I have not tried a Hi-Tone speaker. However, I have experienced a peaky high-mid spike from Fane's AXA 12". I can say that the Starfinder has no such spikey high-mid.

Cool. Maybe I'll check one out. I've also wanted to check out the Alnico SRO.

They're also excellent. What impedance are you looking for - 8 or 16 ohm?

    8. Have you ever used it with the 417? I'm curious how they would sound together.

Off topic--I scored a 2X10 cabinet with a Fane Medusa and Fane Blue Alnico--sounds really nice--I 'm going to try pairing it with my Cream 12 Cab.

I've not used the Starfinder and Altec 417 together. My Starfinder is 8 ohm, and I have a pair of 417 that are 16 ohm each, so they're not really directly comparable, or able to be mixed.

Nope - with the same limitations again... my SRO is 8 ohm and 417 is 16 ohm

The Starfinder sounds like my next speaker to try. I run EV12L, and/or Celestion Alnico Creams currently, but I’ll admit the sound clips I’ve heard of the Rawson are intriguing.

Someone put together a youtube of my sound clips comparing the RS Starfinder Crescendo replica, Hi-Tone Crescendo A, and original Fane Crescendo. It's a quick way to hear the tonal differences.

The Starfinder is really close. The Hi-Tone is smoother; doesn't have that high mid "grind".
