I've been really digging the sound of my Bastage (2 watt?) with
my current live rig... I'm able to use it at a few "acoustic" gigs
with jazz, folk, or bluegrass ensembles.

It's an older model that has an EF86 into an EL34 power tube,
FAT switch on. Just sounds super thick and warm, with some
*almost* cleans and some genuinely badass growly overdriven
    sounds.

If I had to guess, I'd say old Marshall is the type of sound
(but I've never had the pleasure of playing one, sadly). I have
a wide assortment of pedals that I'm happy with, so the amp
would have to respond accordingly. The EF86 probably helps
with the response to pedals/boosts, etc. ?

I could probably use an 18 watt no problem for the larger gigs.
    Any ideas?

Check out www.musictoyz.com. They're running a "blowout" sale on some tasty looking Fargen amps.

Just call Ben direct and tell him what you want. He's all about making amps to your desired tone

Hmmmmm, you have a good point but I'm a budget kinda dude.
Ben's stuff is awesome, but out of my price point.

what cab & speaker(s) are you playing through?
maybe the same amp but different cab config?

    Considerations:
    1. a 4x12 is substantially louder than a 1x12,
    2. a more efficient speaker (eg ev) is substantially louder than a less efficient speaker (eg greenback)
    3. a 12 is often louder than a 10
    4. ported cabs are louder than totally sealed
so if you are playing thru a 1x12, going to a bigger cab with more efficient speakers (4x12 with v30s, 2x12 with evs) would result in a big volume (& possibly weight ;)) boost
