I couldn't find too much discussion about the Fargen Hot Mods for a PRRI. Anyone have experience with it?

Is it worth having it done to a PRRI or just getting a Headstrong or Magic? I have access to PRRI at dealer cost, so I'd end up about $500 less than getting a boutique Princeton.

It is a great mod, I've played a Hot Mods DRRI and those MM trannies definitely spank the undersize ones that come in the Deluxe. In your case if you can initially get the PRRI for that cheap then it's probably an even better deal.

But in general, I always kind of wonder the point in buying an amp then immediately spending as much (or more) than the amp modding it. Why not just save cash and get something badass from the start. Or for way less cash, find a vintage BF or SF Princeton, they come around fairly regularly on the emporium. A speaker swap is one thing, but if you're putting all new components and trannies in just to make the amp sound good, probably shouldn't have gotten the amp to start.

I actually think the stock PRRI sounds pretty great. This would just be the icing on the cake...and I'm really only considering going this route because I can get the PRRI at cost.

I'm wondering if anyone has experience with both a Fargen modded Princeton and a Headstrong, Magic, Allen, etc.

I have a Fargen-modded (hot mods) PRRI and it is jaw-droppingly good.. The notes seem to last forever...amazing sustain and crystal clear & clean. I will say though...that I think the stock speaker will have to go too. I put an Eminence RC 10" in mine and it too....combined with the mods...made the low-end much better....tighter. I'll never get rid of it
