I bought a Boss Katana 2 x 12 100 watt. Today is the first day I've been on TGP in a year since I got it. Been playing. Best amp I've had, better than the Mesa or Marshalls or Twins or Labs Series or Hot Rod Deluxe or Roland JC120s or ..more...I had. Really. lol For me it just is. I won't convince anyone I'm sure, don't care.

After many years of pondering bought an Allen Sweet Spot 1x12. Great amp!

Marshall makes inexpensive Code Cabs 2x12 and 4 x12...
    I use a 2 x12 with Celestion V30's or 4 x 12 with G12-75's.
I like the Vintage 30's better.

I think My favorite of 2017 is My Webb Pedal Steel Amp, made sometime in the late 1970s. Even has a remote for reverb level. 15 inch speaker and 225 watts of (GASP!!!) solid state noise making!!!!

3rd Power British Dream Mk2 with Dream Series 2x12 cab. The hybrid master works superbly, to the point this is the best gigging amp I've ever owned. It went straight into my touring rig as soon as I bought it.

It just about nails the sound of my old Bad Cat Black Cat 30, but at whatever volume I like.

    In this order of awesomeness:
    1) Carol-Ann Triptik-2 w/cab
    2) EVH 50W EL34 Head
    3) Bogner Atma w/Ecstacy head shell
    4) Egnater Rebel 20 head

Well, I just picked up a Two Rock Studio Pro 35 with matching 1x12. I have it two weeks, but its clear to me that its not only the best amp of 2017, but one of the very best I have ever owned!

    Lucky year for me.
Bought a Steve Miller owned Bogner Shiva in mint condition for $999.
Found a matching cab in Craigslist for $300.
Got a rare Black Chassis Bogner Atma in a Helios heads hell for $1200.

Looks like a regular 5e3, but it’s a tone MONSTER! Magic amps Tweed Deluxe is amazing.

I got an old musicman 2x12 with some credit I had built up at a local shop. It’s got older eminence speakers. I’m plugging a deluxe reverb in and it is glorious and huge.

In July of 2017 I picked up an 83 jcm800 2204.. did all new caps and tubes.
I haven't played through anything else since.
I have my runt20 in the box waiting to sell.
It is the sound that I heard in my head.

I almost feel like ducking - bought 4 amps in 2017 and sold two of them in 2017... so... pretty pedestrian by TGP standards but my favorite and one I'll have a hard time selling:

Peavey Classic 20 MH. I bought it used - put in new tubes as a precaution (which my tech says is a waste of money and he's probably right...) and it sounds terrific. Using an Ampeg 1x12 with a V30 in it. It's just a nice versatile amp - super convenient size so good as a grab and go - the attenuation works as it should so it works well for late evening practice at low volumes - the reverb is digital but usable for sure - effects loop - headphone and xlr direct out and usb out - much better drive channel than the Blues Jr (most direct competitor I suppose although it is a combo). It has a good bit of clean headroom, it would be close keeping up with a heavy drummer depending on the room but with a V30 it is plenty loud at 20w particularly if you're willing to ride the edge of breakup. The drive channel is a little more oomph than I typically use but I've more than been able to dial in what I want with the gain below noon - but I might switch out the gain tube for a lower powered one to see if I can get a bit more range. It is built very well and seems very durable. It isn't perfect - the shared EQ is a stopper for many but I've found settings that work well for me. It is a bit cliche to say it takes pedals well but they seem to work just fine. Decent footswitch with a built in boost (technically a reducer - when boosted it is at full power, "normal" is a power reduction). It's not a boutique amp by any stretch but it covers a lot of ground well to very well, is portable and I would not hesitate to take it out for rehearsal or a gig and worry myself sick that someone would "covet thy neighbors amp..."
