I did a title search in this sub-forum for "bass solo" and was surprised to see there's no thread of this sort!

So, TGP, what say you? List and/or post your favorite bass solo from a studio recording.

Here's mine (conveniently, the bass solo is the intro):

BTW, the bass player there is Juan Alderete, and he's got a great gear demo channel on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/user/PedalsAndEffects/videos

Hendrix-"1983 (A Merman I Should Turn To Be). I'm almost positive Jimi played the bass on that one. I guess it could be considered a "solo."

Good one, I thought that was Jack Cassidy for ages. Maybe a Bass VI?

Morphine "Radar" or the fills on "Perfect Kiss" for me.

I consider Carol Kaye's driving bass in the BB' s "Sloop John B" to lead the song too, and basically is a song-long solo.

    But played well with others.

Not to disparage any of the other posts, but I gotta go with the original. At least the original in a rock song.

No fair bringing in jazzers. I will happily admit that they will blow away any rick bass solos.
