I can get many great high gain tones by stracking, but I'd like a single pedal that does it very well. Think: 80's shred to liquid Henderson, long effortless sustain. It doesn't have to be touch sensitive or clean up well.
I'd rather not use a fuzz (muff).
I'd rather not use an MXR Distortion+.
Medium gainers like Box of Rock are not the ticket.
    I hate the Crunchbox.
    I sold the Fetto.
    I sold the BB Preamp.
    Hmmm....
    Advice?
Otherwise I'll put a Timmy after my King of the Britains.
I suppose :dude is in order...

If you get a chance, try out the Radial Tone Bone Hot British. This pedal has a lot of different options and really needs to be dialed in, but when you do!!!

i think you're after a Mesa like tone: Toneczar "openhaus"
    MI Audio "tube zone"
    Emma "Reeza..."
there's a thread near regarding that sound

Not sure if its liked or hated in here BUT the Krank pedal can sound really bloody good, especially if boosted slightly, depending on p/ups i guess.

Boss HM2 Heavy Metal. You'll think this is a joke, of course, but it really is my favorite high gain pedal.

Mo'd, which is right in line with the Rat and Keeley Rat recommendations. It's a great circuit and the Mo'D is the best take on it I've heard.

I don't own one but the best soundclip-wise I've heard is the Indyguitarist Pinnacle II.

+1. It's hard to find an unusable setting with the Landgraff MO'D.

I'll second the openhause. Heavy modern sounds or not.

    You're WAY too picky.

Landgraff MoD definitely fits the bill...probably my favorite high-gainer of all time...
