I've been with GoDaddy for a while now, and my web hosting is up. I want to see what else is out there. I just want a music website where I can have songs and videos posted, pics, bio. The usual. Who is the best at this for the best price? Thanks.

There are a lot of them - just google "web hosting" and see what is included wiuth all the packages. Go Daddy is a good deal, though.

If you want to create a good, quality web site quickly then the WIX platform works really well, but it is over $200/year.

I've been using Host Gator now for 5+ years to host my websites and my clients'. Never had a problem and they have responsive support when I've needed to lean on them for some help. They also have free shared SSL which Google likes to see within their algorithm. GoDaddy charges for any flavor of SSL.

I'm migrating from GoDaddy because the pricing is out of hand, especially for shared server hosting. The performance is just okay, although I'll admit their uptime is excellent. I've really been liking NameCheap. Easy to use and crazy cheap. Even the higher-end plans are not that much.

For a personal or hobby or even affiliate site, NameCheap is plenty good enough. If you have really high volume traffic with e-commerce and a lot of database hits, maybe check out a more pricey host. But for most of us, it's more than enough.

I have been doing web design for well over a decade and have used several hosting companies. I recommend siteground to anyone who asks. Their combination of features (including free secure certificates and free cloudflare cdn) and top notch support have won me over.

On my list of hosts to avoid is Hostgator. Terrible in my experience.

We're using hostgator ... has been fine ... we had some trouble at startup because the IP address we were on was on a gray / black list for some businesses because Spam email and /or porn was originating from the same / similar addresses. Seemed to get worked our and we don't have trouble now. Cheap and easy.
    Good luck

It is hard to choose only one web hosting company. Based on my own experience, it's better to consult with specialists to make the right choice. Personally, I've been cooperating with BreakThruweb company for a long time. It is one of the best web development firms I've worked with. They helped me a lot with website development and promotion. You can visit site to get more info about their services.

    .

Best option is to have your URL provider different than your web hosting provider. That way you can move hosting sites at will, you are not held hostage.

Get your URL here (they are one of the four master domain sources) then point it at your hosting site
Netfirms for the URL, $12/year +/-

Hosting free here for a basic account. You'll want to check about how to host music, but you could put music on youtube account, soundcloud, whatever and then link it to your wordpress site.

If all you want is a personal page then look at InterServer.

I used to use 123ehost for a couple of years. Never had any problems and it was cheap.

I've had a good experience with GoDaddy except for one glitch. I needed to have my web email restored, and one of their techs did it for me while while we were talking on the phone - for a fee of $45, after I had been quoted several times that earlier by another person at GoDaddy.
