I'm not a pedal freak - I have an original Tube Screamer and an original Boss from the late '70's early '80s (I think). The only pedal (of any kind) that I use regularly is an RC Booster.

The best overdrive/unusual pedal I tried in the past year was a Crowther "Prunes & Custard" (was it the past year? Probably two years ago) that was going the rounds.

Have some fun and describe your fav NOT based on the Tube Screamer (I'm sick of the damn things).

    Best, Pete.

    Ooh, you're right, I have a V-Stack "Tweedy" that I love!

For someone that keeps saying I hate pedals - I have a few!

    Best, Pete.

Throbak Overdrive Boost-based on Colorsound OD with some cool tweaks. Definitely not in the TS camp!

The early chinese graphic Eternity I had was definately in the TS camp. But the modded TS-9 I have couldnt cop ALL of the Eternity's tones. The eternity could however cop all of the TS-9's tones but with less noise and tighter bottom end.

Isnt the KOT supposed to be analogman's take on the PERFECT Tubescreamer.

Some interesting stuff showing up here - Bjorn's stuff (I love that guy), the Throbak range looks really interesting to me too. Anymore?

    Best, Pete.

To Quote Mike: The KoT is one of the few overdrive pedals available that is NOT based on a tube screamer circuit.

    & it's my favorite OD

I love my Line 6 Crunchtone, especially for just a mild crunch. The first two voicings are of limited use for me, but that last one is a killer.

For distortion, the new MI Crunchbox is the best thing I've ever heard. Cripes, I like it more than some of my amps!! Much, much preferred to the V-stack because it masks the guitar's personality even less (and the V-stack is already quite good in this way) and it responds notably better to my guitar's volume knob. Really didn't care for the V-Stack in this regard.

Clark Gainster (warm, low-compression, open-sounding, tube amp style, low-gain, best overdrive I've ever heard)
Shannon Distortion (hotter, low-compression, open-souding, tube amp style, medium-to-higher gain, second best overdrive I've ever heard)

Ahhh, I see now. I just got confused remembering the pics of the Tubescreamer and all the comparisons to the tubescreamer he makes in that article. Thanks for the clarification. I would like to try one of them out sometime!!
