Fender American Standard Tele's - Is 2010 - present really better than years past?

I am in the market for a simple, used American Standard Tele. I have been told that 2011-present is some of the best stuff they have ever made. Is that true? Is it better to buy one from this era then say 2004-2007 or any time in the 90's? Also, what is a fair used price for one in good, stock condition?

2012 is when they started using the custom shop pickups and belly cut. These are generally regarded as being fantastic modern Tele's. I've got a sunburst '12 with rosewood neck that I will keep forever.
