Fender AVRI 1962 Reissue Stratocaster - Inlays

    I can't seem to find this answer anywhere: Which dot inlays are in the 62 reissues? True to spec I believe would be clay inlays since they were clay until late 64' or early 65', but my 91' AVRI looks like it may have plastic inlays. Thanks!

    I doubt that they are clay, but I'm sure that someone here will know fo' sho.'

    Thanks - they appear to be plastic - not sure why they wouldn't do them with clay. Aren't the 59' (newest) strat reissues clay dots?

    If the new ones are clay, then that must be one of Fender's improvements in the 'Pure Vintage' Series.

    I may replace them with the corian inlays from stewmac. It's funny how the guitar aged through lots of playing all except the plastic inlays :)

    The originals weren't actually clay, but made from a fiberboard. Lots of that on TGP and the les paul forum...
