I ordered mine last week from my GC buddy. I really like the looks of this guitar and how it's set up. Anyone else got one on the way?

Thinking about it. I like the layout of it as well.

I was waiting to see when & where they would be showing up.

Very cool! And a Nate Mendel bass? Anxious to hear how folks like this when they roll out.

I freakin love it. I always wanted a tele deluxe but the oly problem was you can't find one with a rosewood board. This seems like a killer guitar!!! Shifty ain't so bad eim self :). However I would probably change the pick guard. Never liked perloid always thought the went out with 80s neons

Yes... I was also thinking about the pickguard. I wonder if one ordered from Warmoth would fit without modification.

Maple board, 22 frets, and the right color pickguard I'd be in line, but not for the one they are marketing.

That's weird, I thought his was made from Warmoth parts....maybe that was another one.

What is retail on these?

Still a Tele made from Warmoth parts. When they start selling complete instruments maybe they'll do an artist model in the meantime this one MAP's for $699. I'm told we'd have them this month but Fender is notoriously vague so that could mean the 12th or the 31st for all I know. I want to get my hands on the Mendel bass. The Cobain Jaguar out a couple years ago was impressive and I was pretty skeptical going in. Great fit and finish and I even liked the relicing.

I don't care personally that its not exactly like Chris Schiflett's. I'm never going to be exactly like him either. I just really like the guitar. I like how it's set up and unlike the looks. I can change the pick guard down the road if I want to change things up. I do that quite a bit on my Fenders.

Come on!! Who's with me??!!!

I thought he said in Guitar World that he built it himself at Dave's house while they recorded the album?

Hmmm....didn't know about that article. If you walk into Eric's lobby, you'll see an autographed pic of Chris holding his Shifty tele, and thanking Eric for building his favorite guitar.

I built my own, similar axe from a Warmoth mahogany body and a Musikraft neck. Lollar humbuckers with a push/pull pot to split them. One of my favorite guitars.

I am in the process of building a "Shiftty" replica -

I called Warmoth and bought all the same parts Chris did (or his tech/Luthier did!) - so its a Light Swamp Ash body - in Mary kay white - a one piece Maple Neck with a 59 Carve, a Silver Pearl Pick-guard and Fender Bridge......

Only thing I cant find out is what pickups he's using (he got those separately) - I suspect Seymour Duncans - but I am going to go with either covered Gibson Alnico's or BurstBuckers for a bit more oommmppph....

I might buy the MIM Chris Shiflett Tele as well (as its nto really that expensive - and can maybe be upgraded to be a decent guitar) - but I think the Warmoth one will be much MUCH closer to what he's actually been playing on most of the Wasting Light tour....for not a lot more money....
