Fender Classic 50's Strat MIM

The whole Classic line is solid.

They are poly finished, and that has never bothered me one bit. They sound and play great.

The neck profile is a soft v, and is very similar to the AVRI '57 neck profile. It is a medium profile I would say, but the V profile makes it a little slim at the same time. The pups are I guess your MIM standard fare, but they sound really good. I have the 60s series, and I never felt the need to change them out.

All-in-all, if you are looking for vintage spec'd 50s style strat, I would get one. The only thing I would change is the trem block.

Great guitars period.

Stupidly sold one to 'upgrade' and haven't found one that sounded as good to my ears yet.
I had CS54's in mine...and it was pretty perfect.

Fender recently introduced a lacquer finished Classic Series. I've never been one to care about the whole lacquer/poly debate but for those who find it to be a big deal, that option is available.

I've always been a big fan of the Classic Series. If you like vintage spec stuff they are hard to beat without going the AVR route.
