fender custom shop released a photo of "tbo". getting closer. thoughts?
Rory G's Strat done in black...?
Too much...from what I've seen K-Line is doing the nicest relics now. I like relics but they've progressed to the point that they look like they've been in a flood or house fire. Meh...
^^you are aware its a replication of John Mayers guitar, right?
Though it does resemble a Rory to an extent
Over the top, and not in a good way IMO.
A faithful replica of the 'The Black One'. Nice. Me likey.
finally, they're able to get the relic look so real people mistake it for the original relic.
I'll read thread this with curious fascination I guess. I still hold out hope that it ends up being a killer Strat even though Strats aren't quite my thing anymore.
Cool, but why even bother putting paint on it...at all?!
That's really great. Nicely put.
Depending on the pick-ups I might actually get one of these.
If I pay good money for a guitar I want to wear the finish off myself.
I dig it. Fiercely.
This said, I would go with a Dano, a K Line, a Revelator before i'd go for an "F" one
Big fan, give me a price and a dealer to talk to!
That's one new and original way of looking at guitar finishes.
Is that a relic clone of a relic?
I like the custom shop stuff as much as anyone, but these limited edition relics always seem a bit contrived to me. Why would I want a guitar that's an exact copy of a famous person's guitar? It just has no appeal to me at all. Also, the Fender custom shop pricing has been getting totally crazy, especially with these limited artist guitars. Some sell out, but it seems like most of them tend to hang around stores for a looooong time (Jeff Beck tele, Summers Tele, Lenny strat (winner of the ugliest guitar of all time award)). If you're going to get one wait about six months to get one 'used' and save yourself 5-10k.
I think I would get a smaller company and get them do one for far less and top notch
