I have set of Josie/Vaughn pickups that I would like to put in a guitar. Unfortunately, I havent found a good strat to put them so I was thinking of picking up a 60's Duo Sonic and popping the Mares in there to try. Im not too familiar with the Duo Sonic, all I know is that Jimi Hendrix used one when he played with Curtis Knight. Jimi gets a great tone out of one through a cranked Twin:

Is the pickup configuration Neck and Bridge or Middle and Bridge? :huh

I find it VERY hard to believe that no one here on '' The Gear Page '' plays a Duo Sonic!

I want to play one!

I've been looking for a little bit now. I really just want to check out any of the short scale fenders. A musicmaster would be cool too.

To the OP, I think it would be a great idea to find a beat up old DuoSonic and breath some new life into it with a set of Don's amazing pups.

I can't get on YouTube right now (blocked at work) but if you look for a band called "The Low Anthem" there are a bunch of clips with the lead singer/guitar player using a cool early 60's Duo.

Tomo plays one . :AOK

I love the Duo Sonic very much. It got very unique tone and it's vintage that I can afford as a musician.

If you look for one... look for '61-'63... those necks are very nice.
My favorite is '61 & '63...

Great tone!

Interesting - I have a '70s Jaguar neck looking for a home - maybe I'll pick up a Duo Sonic body to marry it to.
