    Radiuses? Radium?

I may be in the market for a tele, and I remember hearing that the neck radius on the Fender Japan strats and teles are all 7.5., and that they all have old style small frets. Is that true?

On the site I think the designation for the radius is the 184R measurement, is that 7.5?

    thanks!

All my MIJ Stratocasters and Telecasters have small frets and 7.25" radii.

While we're at it - is the neck profile (specifically on the Teles) on the chunkier side or skinnier side?

My CIJ Tele is a medium V at the nut evening out up the neck.

It depends entirely on the model. I've got a '55 tele that has a large hardish V profile. Whereas my CIJ '62 tele has a medium C. Which specific CIJ tele are you thinking about?

I assume it leans toward the chunky shape of the American '52, but Ishibashi only describes it (and all Tele necks) as 'oval shaped.'

Not all are labelled as ovals- my tele neck is labelled correctly as a V (it's a pretty hard V.)

I haven't played one of the CIJ '52 reissues, though if the '55 is anything to go by, it will at least be as hefty as the U neck on the '52 American Vintage.

I'm pretty sure my mid-80s MIJ strat has a 9.5" radius. I think the current CIJ models are all based on vintage models which originally had 7.25" radius. Some earlier MIJ's were built to their own spec and therefore had a different radius.

This is something I've been meaning to find out-I have two 62 reissues-
    a 86 and a 96-
the neck on the 86 seems flatter on the back-almost Sg-ish-which I love-
anyone know what style that's called or know of where to find out?
I want to get something close to it for another guitar

    thanks
