Has anyone been able to try one of these yet? It's giving me Serious GAS.. How can you go wrong with a simple circuit, 15" Speaker, 13 watts, and at a $300 list price? It's really making me wonder why Fender is charging so much for the Tweed Deluxe reissue :huh

After hearing all the demos from NAMM & Fender, I'm seriously considering ordering both Excelsior and Greta. Greta would be perfect in my Semi while on the road for 10-14 days at a time. At home, I want to hear how Great lined to Excelsior sounds.
With free shipping & no tax, the pair will be $500....

Holy Crap! I saw these amps browsing on Fender's website a week ago, but figured the price would be ridiculous...but $300?!? As soon as they're available to buy, I'm getting one and I'll let you know how it sounds :)

By making it sound like an obnoxiously farty transistor practice amp from the late 1980's, which you could buy for $30.

Nope, but judging by every single demo/clip I would have much better uses for the $300 than a polished turd. I doubt that me playing one would or could make the amp sound drastically different. Even if it sounded decent it's still a very limited one-trick pony amp of lowish power side and is easily surpassed by several other amps costing $300. For example, I don't know how much used Sano Excelsior amps (of which the Fender is a poor ripoff of) cost today on used markets but I doubt they go very much higher from the $300 mark.

Cool, so I am asking for personal experience with the amp and you **** on it because of some youtube demos? Thanks.

I don't think they are scheduled to hit the market until late next month...

I actually liked the youtube demo's... I think this amp has some potential.

    Worse case... I return it.

Best case... a cool little amp for 3 bills.

I bet Fender's gonna sell a bunch of them.

So you are mad because you don't get a glorifying statement from me...? Let's just say that - IMO - it's rare to encounter an amp which sounds either meh or downright horrible in each and every demo video clip but somehow manages to sound absolutely wonderful in real life. I haven't yet encountered one.

Overall the way that amp seems to sound and how limited features it seems to have makes me think $300 is way too much for one and - based on those demos about the amp - if shopping used there surely would be plenty of other amps I'd put on audition before even giving Excalibur or whatever the chance.

Not your preferred opinion but hey, you asked for one.

No I dont care if you like it or not, but we were asking for opinions of people that have heard one in person. I can hear the demos online, I think it has potential, you dont like it, fine.

I dont care about the lack of features, in fact that is what I like about the amp.

What other amps for 300 bucks would you recommend?

Honestly, disregard the huge corporate buying power and ask yourself, Where can I get a NEW 6V6PP amp, kit or otherwise complete with cab, 15" speaker, transformers, tubes, chassis & hardware for $300.00?

    :dunno

If anyone thinks this is not a DIY modders adventure in the making they are just haters.
Lots of 1 trick ponies are sought after just because of who made famous recordings with them.
Tweed Champs for in excess of $1200.00 It happens!

This amp may not be perfect, but at $300.00 it is clearly in the bargain
category even for guys interested in a first tube amp.

The clean tones sound pretty good to me in the vids, and the output tube bias trem sounds great....the OD tones sound a little harsh and raspy for my tastes...but I hope it's a decent amp. The world's a better place when anyone can walk into any Guitar Center and by a decent 1X15 tube amp with tube bias trem for $300.

These are combos. Not the same thing. Plus the head is still 399. These are 300 bucks.

I have not seen one used for 300 unless it was beat, great amp though.
