Fender Pro Jr. Crapped Out!!!

My guitarist in my band has a Pro Jr. and it crapped out in the middle of practice.
So when He plays soft notes you can here them ok, but once he turns the volume up it sounds like the amp cuts in and out and gets super distorted! I checked the tubes to make sure they where all in and they where. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Could be an intermittent solder joint on the board, or a bad tube. If you have some tubes to swap out, try that first.

I thought Pro Jr was always distorted when you turn the volume up?

More than likely it's a power tube... they have them running so hot in that little amp that those EL84s don't last very long...

Depending on the age of the amp, the caps may be going. They will work fine at low power, but when you crank it up, they go to work hard and may not be able to keep up anymore. Check for leaks on the caps.

Check for a cracked solder joint on the input jack.
