Anybody using a S-1 switch in their guitar? I have a telebration Cabronita with master volume and I'm thinkig of switching it to the S-1 for series/paralell switching.

Anybody have a guitar with one in already or put one in theirs afterwards?

Hi NPFRS, I have an Am Deluxe Tele, and an Am Deluxe HSS Strat, both with the S-1 switch. I use it more on my Tele than my Strat. On my Tele in the middle position it acts like a boost and fattens things up a bit. On my Strat it almost fattens things up too much.

I've got an American Deluxe Tele as well and I love the S-1 switching. It seems to get trashed on this board but it works for me.

I had 3 different strats with the S-1 system and ended up selling all 3.

However, I did not necessarily sell them because of the S-1 system.

We just didn't bond. I just never used all those different options.
I just stuck with the traditional sounds.

Yes, when I play with my Strat, I'll use the S-1 switch sometimes. 10 possible pickup/capacitor combinations is just too much for me to keep track of, though, so I only use a couple.

I don't think the S-1 does series / parallel ... mine switched in a cap ... hated it. You could probably wire it that way, though.

I had it in a custom shop strat with handwound/signed abby's. I didn't keep the guitar long enough to figure it out. I'd like to revisit it

My dlx strat.

I'd suggest trying one out if you can.

I like the sounds but usually stick to the stock config. It is useful and does sound good don't get me wrong.

i dont like it, if i bought a new deluxe with it in it, i would pretty much as soon as i could afford to rip out all that stuff and wire it up vintage style with some nice non noisless pickups

I used an S1 to control the split of my Unbucker on my HSS Stratocaster. It works great!! Try to get a newer S1 because those are better. I got my S1 from Darren Riley.

Did you get the 250k or 500k pot? What would be the difference in a tele?

I have a new Deluxe Lonestar Strat with the S-1. It splits the bridge 'bucker to the screw coil. Works great. Seems sturdy enough. My S-1 knob is attached to a 250K pot if I'm not mistaken.

My American Deluxe Tele has the S-1 switch, I use it occasionally when I need a fatter tone and maybe more output. It's good to have a wider variety of tones available.

It might be overkill on a Strat but I think it's great on a Tele. Same thing as having a 4-way switch 'cept you can preset it if the song calls for it. I would never opt for the series tone if I had to hardwire it one way or the other but it definitely gets used a fair amount by me and the S-1 is a valid way to get it.
