Fender Squier 90s MIK Strats; thoughts?

I've heard people say these are pretty good. Anyone own/have experience with them? What's a fair price to pay for one in god shape?

I have a 96 MIK Fat Strat-needed a good set-up and a couple of dings in the body that I touched up and are now hardly noticeable. Mine has the maple neck, stock electronics, plays and sounds great. Mine was cheap-only $150-but took a while to dial in-seems nothing was set up correctly-probably why it was being sold. Once I dialed everything in to suit me-it's great, doubt I'll part with it ever. Mine is definitely solid wood-no laminate or plywood-haven't weighed it, but isn't light!

When you say "fat" do you mean the neck or was that a particular type?

I've got a Squire Double Fat Strat from 99 that I bought as a studio beater. I got it on an ugly color discount from GC (Purple). I think I paid like $149 for it out the door. Don't know if it was MIJ or MIK, but I gotta tell you, I still have it - it's really a sweet (but odd) underrated guitar. I bought this with a VOx Cambridge amp. Solid State with a tube for overdrive. Also a good buy in hindsight. The two, together are my house/practice combo. No complaints.

Where were the 80s Squiers made?
I had one around 84/85? Loved it. Actually convinced me to shell out for a MIA Strat. The Squier played better I swear. The MIA was clearly better build quality, but the Squier just felt better

I definitely wish I still had that one.

Reference is to pickups--humbucker bridge, single coil middle and neck.

I have a mid 90's Fatstrat that I gigged and recorded with. Great axe, maybe I lucked out but I never felt like I was leaving any tone on the table with it.

I had a baby blue 1993 model. Big "Fender" logo on the headstock, smaller "Squier series" also on the headstock.

Pretty high-output single coils. I thought the neck was pretty flat; the fretboard was sharp at the edges and not very comfortable to play.

I replaced it with a California Tele, better in all ways, and later an American Std Strat, also miles above it. I bought it for $150 from my uncle -- my first electric. I have no nostalgia about getting rid of it. It's not a terrible guitar, but I don't think I would consider it an undiscovered gem now. I think the MIC Squiers I've played in Guitar Center in the last few years are way better instruments.
