The Stratocaster body shape was based on the Precision bass, so it was the bass that influenced the guitar, not the other way around. This bass is pretty cool, but it's really just a Precision with a Strat pickguard and other appointments.

This looks rad. Master volume with individual pickup Tone/Volume concentric pots?

I love the thumb rests as well. I did something similar when I had a Jazz Bass.

Well, look at that! Would love to hear it, as those pickup locations are pretty wild.

Bridge position pickup isn't all that close to the bridge...

Somebody ("Fatstrings" on Talkbass) made one that looks a lot better:

Close. Three individual stacked V/T controls, to a Turnstyle Switch, to a master V/T control, and out.

The Turnstyle is a 6-position rotary switch that gives me full manual control and five tone presets.

I shouldn't be critical of something I haven't tried, but the neck pickup position could be a problem and looking at the Sadowsky, Roger knows where pickups go....Fender seems to just want the product.

Several years back, I came close to pulling the trigger on a P bass body with Jazz bass pickups. It was going to be rear-routed...no pickguard. Also, a pet peeve, is that they really should make them all 21 fret. I have a 21 fret 4001, and being able to hit the high E is nice. The Sadowsky has 21 frets.
