I've had this amp for 20 years and beat the crap out of it. Retired it last year. Pulled it out today and fired it up.

Seems like the volume is less than I remember, Cranked to 10 on normal channel and the sound was clean, but not loud as I recall. Power tubes appear to be okay. No weird noises or pot crackling or anything.

Any ideas?

PS: These amps get a lot of hate, but there are a few of us who found them to be quite useful. With some pedals and using the drive channel as a boost, I gigged for 20 years w/mine: country, r and b horn bands, blues and society gigs. Sounded pretty good.

Try a new set of power tubes if you have one. Filter and other electrolytic caps may be asking for help too, if you haven't changed them in 20 years. :) As far as "hate" goes, put a good player in front of an adequate amp, and I love them every time.

Before putting in new tubes try a couple of things first.

1. Clean the tubes and tube sockets.
2. Swap the tubes around to see if that makes a difference

Nothing wron with getting new tubes but I suggest making sure it's a tube problem first.
