Just picked up a Tone Master on a whim and I find that the dirty channel is overly bright and a bit thinner than I remember from the one I played years ago.
I've swapped power tubes and preamp tubes (even tried really good NOS pre's like Mullard, GE Long Plate and Telefunken Smooth Plate) still have to roll the treble back to 0 and the mid control (which really affects the upper mids/treble to my ears) rolled back quite a bit.
Any quick suggestions on how I can tame down the dirty channel (quick value changes in the tone stack perhaps)?
I'm handy with a soldering iron and not afraid to get into an amp like this but truth told I'm not a whiz when it comes to tone stack calculators etc.
If I could just get some basic ideas where to start and most importantly which components on the schematic at:
http://www.ampwares.com/schematics/tonemaster.pdf
to tweak I would be very appreciative.
Thanks in advance,
Steve
