Apparently the Variax is going to have some competition. One cool feauture is the alternate tunings with the twist of a knob. It will be way cool if it works and still has good tone. The 3 pup Tele looks killer, too.

Wow ...all that history rolled into one amnesia custom shop !

The Fender Gretsch, the Fender Guild, the Fender Jackson ..ahhhh tradition! So just before the polar ice caps melt ,will Fender buy Gibson or will Gibson buy Fender?

You can build one for about $800 with the best parts available. MM Iron and so forth.

$2k for that is just silly. They're appealing to people with more green than gray.

A reissue Princeton would have been nice - tweed, brown or blackface.

    RE: G.E. Smith Tele

It looks like there is a movie ( 50 Watt Fuse) about G. E. Smith where the opening scene is about him in the Fender factory discussing his signiture Tele.

Me too! I've tried everything else, but a Fender guitar straight into a Fender amp sounds like rock and roll to me.

that kinda kills it for me. So much of the bridge pickups sensitivity comes from it being mounted directly to the bridge. I could hear a difference when I tried those little rubber spacers instead of the conical springs.

EVH looks like he's on extasy

EDIT: EVH IS on extasy... look how sweaty he is, look how he keep touching his face, check the 'so happy every one's here and everyone's my friend' way he talks, the 'no, really, guys, you don't understand, this guitar is amazing!'... he keeps playing with his amp settings... etc... this guy is "higher and hiiiiiiiiigher"!

If I'm not mistaken, the original Champion 600 had a 6" speaker. There was also a Champion 800 with an 8" speaker.

I completely disagree. Having the pickup bolted to the body really adds to the tone, having the body resonate with the pickup sitting right into/on it. That is thee tone!!!

Actually the MAP price is $1799.00 and they can probably be had for a bit less than that.

ahhh.. I still think that's a bit high. Maybe a MAP of $1200 and a street price of 850$. :)
