Nice. Well done!
When my wife's out of town, I turn my whole studio into a control room of sorts by setting up my amps in the living room & running the cables through the door to the garage/studio.
Control rooms rule
You seem to be lacking a few things, like acoustic treatment, and serious monitors. Other than that, you're off to a good start. How's teh isolation from the tracking space?
Go get em Red!!!
Yeah I'm still lacking a few things but I can finally make some recordings with what I've got now.
You guys dont know what I had to go through to get this control room.
It was basically a large closet 12x8 behind my big room but it had a bunch of my wifes stuff in it (catch all). In order to get that room I had to build 4 runs of 2 foot deep shelves around our garage to put all her stuff. I bet I hammered 1000 nails over the weekend. The bad thing is by the time I had gotten done I had hit my left thumb 6 times with a hammer. Ouch!
I'm gonna put some carpet on the walls and redo the cieling but I'm real close. Yes I need some better monitors and a headphone amp but I'm real close. Those monitors came off my old computer.
That yellow rack has my 8 Track ADAT, stand alone CD Burner, Alesis Quadraverb, Power Supply for my board, and Power Amps for my Live PA. I can take that hole rig out play live and record it at the same time.
No right now I dont have any rack compressors, eq's or the like but I can get to tape and to CD. I'll add a piece or two along the way.
I should also praise my Father-In-Law he helped me do all of it and my Wife she helped organise moving all the stuff.
Looks like you're off to a good start. Best of luck with it!!
Agreed that acoustic treatment and better monitors would be the next step.
Your room will never be that clean again. My converted bedroom looks like a bomb went off in it due to the pace of work on my latest project.
All we need is my gear and your space and we'd have a killer studio! You've done the hard part, have fun with it!
nice room! good work
interesting setup in the control room..
New York is a good ways aways but stop in anytime.
My set up in my control room is based on having everything in a rack to go. That is also my Live PA with the recording stuff in it also. I have a Flight Case for my Board and just load it all out into a Trailer and go.
Good job! Enjoy it.
Don't worry about the gear. It ain't about the gear.
Sweet setup man, I think it's really cool that your father in-law and your gal helped you out. You have some good people there
