This has been on my dream list for a loonnng time. She's a Gibson Custom Shop R9 "Authentic" model. It looks and feels like it's been stored since 1959. This is one gorgeous guitar and shockingly likght! It feels like a basswood guitar compared to some of my other LP's. The natural resonance is extremely good. And the feel of this guitar is....well....heavenly! Here's a few pics of my new baby.:BEER

Thanks bro! Forgot to mention it is loaded with Wagner WCR pickups. The brigde is a "Darkburst" and the neck is a "Goodwood". I have the originals too. Man does this baby sound amazing through a vintage style amp! :dude

    Fretmaster,
    STUNNING!

That is one of the finest looking newer Les Paul's I have ever seen.
    The color, flame, everything!

I'm a huge fan of the more subtle styles of flame, as I think they look more typical of vintage LP's.
Big congrats on your new baby, and enjoy!!

thanks bro! I'm glad to hear you say that. I've been looking for a looong time and while I wasn't quite ready financially to pull the trigger when I laid my eyes on this one I knew it was time to pull. This is exactly what I was looking for for the exact reasons you listed. She just looks so true to the original to me. And when I found out she barely weighed 8 lbs it was all over. And I'm extremely happy to report she sounds even better than she looks. thanks again!:BEER

Thanks guys! I had an extended jam session with her today running through my Divided by 13 RSA23 into a Celestion Alnico Blue loaded Bruno 4x12 cab and nothing but Klotz cables and a lone old Boss DM-2 analogue delay in line and it was the hardest I've ever had to work to make myself stop playing and get anything else done. Simply the most amazing and inspiring tone I think I've ever heard or felt. I am truly in love.....

Well I've had her for 3 months now and I just have to say I don't think the honeymoon will ever end with this axe. I play a number of other guitars and everytime I pull out the R9 it just flat ouf blows me away. It is so much more alive and resonant than any other guitar I've ever played and I've had some really nice ones! It's really the kind of feel and tone that can't be put into words. It IS easy to see why the 59' Lester has been considered the "holy grail" of Les Paul's is not all guitars. I love it and in spite of how much it cost I would buy another one in a heart beat if I could afford it.:AOK

Heck, I'm just glad I have a 20" monitor for those pics you posted at the top! Although I did have to scroll sideways to see it all... LOL Nice wood there, Fretmaster!

Good luck guys! Beautiful guitars! You'll have GAS for other guitars but there is nothing that is going to sound as good as Historic Les Pauls, especially with WCR and Voodoo pups.
