I've searched all over the internet for something decent, and it turns out this baby was waiting across the street at the auto parts store:

flat, large-ish digits, a large RAISED light button that's easy to press with your foot and turns off after a few seconds. Great finishing touch to my pedalboard:

If you're interested it's an "Auto Xpress" product, part #ax106

Why would you need that, out of curiosity?

because sticking to the schedule is professional courtesy and I don't wear a watch and whipping out the cell phone onstage is lame

Nope, it'd probably kill the batteries fairly quick anyway. That's why it's the (almost) ideal clock... the real ideal one would have an AC adapter input, rugged metal casing, all that good stuff. :)

of course, you could probably weigh down the button with something if you really wanted to...

i like it! now if only it could be powered off of a 9v dc supply while still keeping internal correct time when the power was shut off, and be made so the light stayed on whenever external power was supplied, we'd have a winner.

my alarm clock basically does this, in that it plugs into the wall and displays the time, but if the power goes out, it has an internal battery so it keeps time. the display goes dark, but when the power comes back it resets itself to the correct time. got it at brookstone or sharper image, i forget.

    planet waves, are you listening?

Exactly! Also, snazzy blue LED display instead of LCD with a backlight. Until then this is pretty good though.

 Yeah man we're all Sid freakin' Vicious here on The Gear Page. I say, old bean, pass the Klon! Be sure not to spill any on my pristine cable runs!
