after many months of accumulating parts, a couple false starts, I got my bass finished tonight. To say I am chuffed is an understatement. Granted the strings are brand new and full of brightness and squawk before they finally settle down but this is one resonant bass. I weighed it on the bathroom scale and it comes out to 8 pounds even.

I got a little ahead of myself because I wanted to level and crown the frets but the accumulation of those tools is taking longer than my patience can hold out for. I've had these round wound bass strings sitting around since the late '90s so I said "why not?" and strung it up. When I get all the tools I need, I'll dress the frets and install the flat wounds I wanted the guitar to have. At least I won't be putting those much more expensive strings on with no experience.

Once again, I had planned on building and then selling it. I don't know now, I think I'm going to keep this one.:)

Looks great! I've put together a couple of guitars, but I am thinking about putting together a Bass this year just to have one around my lil studio! What kind of pickups did you go with?

Very nicely done, especially for a first build. Like everyone else would say, what you will always regret is letting the first one go. I mean, how many times have you heard guys here and elsewhere say, "Gee, I really wish I never sold my very first bass."
