Craigslist ad says "$480 cash. Price is firm."

Buyer: "Will you take $420 for it?"

Me: "No, I discounted it a lot already because of condition."

    Buyer: "How about $450?"

Me: "I'm afraid not. The price is firm and there are others waiting to see it if you don't want it."

Buyer: "How about a discount since it doesn't have a case?"

Me: "Sorry, the price is firm."

Buyer: "But I'll need to buy a case."

    Too many keystrokes, bruh.

    Price is firm

Control C to copy that text, Control V to paste it into every communication that doesn't involve a full-price deal.

For me that's not as big of a pet peeve as the geniuses in the Pedals emporium who are asking for paypal gift on $100 pedals. WTF? Like that $2.90 really makes a difference...

Lol. Was that in person or over the phone?
As a buyer, I'll might have asked once if you'd take $460. But that's as far as I'd take it.

So, the guy tried to buy your guitar, let's form a posse and hunt him down.

I know you said no trades, but would you take pedal/guitar/power tools/cinder blocks in trade?

It was in person. Here's the text from the ad:

"The guitar has some small dings here and there. Nothing to make you cry yourself to sleep at night. Hey, it's a 23-year-old Gibson SG Standard for 480 bucks. Want a pristine guitar? No problem...they are $1,400 at Guitar Center.

Price is firm. Get a REAL (almost vintage) Gibson for CHEAP!"

Most people feel the need to get some kind of discount. I would never post an ad that says the price if firm. Mostly because I don't want to deal with the silliness. List if for $499 if you want $450.

Price is never firm until it's sold.

I don't really like SGs anyway...have you got a Gibson LP or a Gibson 335 (no Epiphones or knockoffs please) for $480?

I get that, man. I really do. Everyone wants to feel like they got a bargain. Like...oh, I don't know...getting a Gibson SG Standard for $480.

Adopt the "when in Rome" policy. CL is a bastion for haggling, grifting scumbags who weren't raised properly. Conduct yourself accordingly.
