So I never really thought I would be into the AC30 sound, but I played one this morning in church and really liked how well the chime cut through the mix. Ive been on the hunt for a solid back up amp for a while now, and something I could use to run a stereo rig when the situation allows. My main amp is a Port City Pearl, which is a great 50 watt all clean Fender style sound and I figured the AC30 style sound would go well with what I have now they would balance each other out pretty well. My main money making gigs are between my original band who is about to go out on tour, think NEEDTOBREATHE meets Maroon 5 type of sound, and I also do TONS of worship gigs, which I know the VOX is well suited for.....Thoughts? Is there anything else out there I should look at? I want to keep it under $1000 and preferably something in combo form. And are there any models of AC30 I should stay away from?

The current AC30 is excellent, the previous generation had flaws. Most people who purchase an AC series voxes find themselves in a long term love affair, the tone is that good. .

I agree. I have the AC30C2 and its a great amp. this amp can play any gig from your bedroom to a 70k seat arena no problem. Im considering an upgrade to blues alnicos but the greenbacks sound good also. I think youd like this amp

you should check out the Jackson Ampworks Newcastle. they just came out with a 30 Watt Model (more expensive), but they have an 18 Watt Model in a combo form for $1200ish, and a head for a little under $1K. they sound seriously nice and have a surprising amount of headroom too.
