Flatwound doubts

Lately, I've been thinking on making the move from roundwound strings to flatwounds and I have a few doubts. I'm currently playing .11 d'Addarios with medium/high action. If I would try flats, which gauge should I try? An .11 flat set would feel easier or harder to play compared to my round set? Should I change the action for the flats?

Also, I'm a huge string breaker. Will the flats last longer than the rounds?

And how is the difference in tone? I mean, how significant it is, specially in a live, full-band, two guitar setting?
