15 years, which is ridiculous enough as it is, but they also have to register as sex offenders which is positively absurd. Not at all what the sex offender registry was designed to be.

I have no problem with the sex offender registration, that's really quite inappropriate in public, especially considering the time of day and location.

As far as the prison time - yea, quite overblown.

These people deserve the death penalty. Children could have seen this act and ruined them!!!

Won't someone think of the children?

Well, I'm no prude, but 2:30 in the afternoon on a crowded beach with 3 year old kids a couple of feet away? That's really asking for it and on top of it, they turned down numerous plea deals and the dude is a convicted felon on top of all that. She'll probably get off light, but that dude is going bye-bye for a while. Not 15 years, but not 2 weeks at Camp Snoopy either...

That is the possible. They are looking at 60 days for her. He, however, is a convicted felon who just got out of prison. Having sex in public, in front of children even, is illegal. Even so, he is not looking at 15 years. They offered him three and he refused.

This has to be a joke, but if not, any judge that puts her in jail for one minute, or makes them register as sex offenders, deserves to be disbarred.

    A fine yes.

He can go away, a felon making mistakes like that? just dumb.

    Question:

Would the punishment for this be nearly as severe in other countries?

Stupid is as stupid does. Doing the act at that time of day was stupid. Doing it with children around was stupid. Getting caught was stupid and finally not taking a plea bargain was really stupid.

They're all over the news. I wouldn't be surprised if they found a way to profit from this.

    I wouldn't say that......

Doing it in front of children and not taking the deal were the big errors in judgement.

I would like to point out that I posted that video without listening to it. I would like to suggest to all that you just appreciate the joke and not actually listen to it yourselves.

Not that I'd be happy if I were on the beach with my kids, but three plus years seems excessive. I'd say 3 days and a hefty fine would teach them a lesson.
Regarding offender status, some states have a very minor level that doesn't require the reporting/labeling that a real predator gets. If Florida has that, I'd be fine with 3 years on the list. But I can't logically find fault with the prosecutor. If it were two guys in the bushes at a public park, I doubt there would be as much of a fuss over the likely sentencing.
Honestly, it doesn't bother me personally (if they were being at least a little discreet). But if kids were on the beach, they should have found a room.

Edit: Azchilcat: lol, at least they were healthy specimens. Apparently the guy is a body builder. And thanks for not posting a pic of him in all his banana hammock glory.

They had sex in public in front of kids, including at least one three year old. The court is right - they should be registered as sex offenders. They got kicks from the fact they were in front of people, including kids. There's certainly a reason to make it impossible for them to be employed, for example, where they could supervise children. They deserve all they get.
