I just did my first ever string change on a Floyd-equipped guitar (my new Wolfgang Special).
When I do string bending up a whole tone, this causes the floyd to lift slightly off the body of the guitar (the EVH Floyd is not floating, so normally it rests against the body of the guitar). I can feel/hear it bump back against the body of the guitar when I release the bend.
Is this typical? I guess extra springs would prevent this from happening, but I'm just wondering if this is typical behaviour with a guitar like this.

More springs will solve this problem.

You can try screwing in the spring claw a bit. It depends how much thread is left at it's current position. FWIW, I've never seen them screwed in all the way and I wouldn't reccomend it.

Yeah - just ask at the counter. I buy extras and keep them in the case. They're pretty easy to install too. Just put the block side in first. If you're not floating the bridge, you shouldn't have to retune, but if you are, you will.

hmm, just phoned my local stores - they don't have them. Can anybody recommend an online source (especially in Canada, but US is ok)?

haha ya it's certainly taking it to an extreme. I actually bought a set of their regular "noiseless" springs about a year ago and i didn't care for them much. Very stiff compared to what I'm used to. I also WAY overuse my floyd so any difference kinda throws me off.
Adam was a great guy to do business with though I must say
