For me, there is no better guitar than a Gibson Custom Shop Les Paul.

My current #1 is a 2011 Gibson SG special faded with baked maple fingerboard. So easy and comfortable to play. One piece body. I have a set of old dimarzio virtual PAFs in it and its sounds awesome.

My absolute favorite LP Type both in feel, and especially in tone (after owning many many Gibsons).....handmade by Larry Corsa in PA, one at a time....under 8 lbs....Brazilian fingerboard, Honduras Mahogany.. thin finish. No wood filler used! Makes a huge difference in tone....top of the line German Faber Hardware . The Corsa Manaleshi :).

    You're not wrong!

And speaking of a Plexi + LP...

I adore mine, can't put it down. Took me years to get a CS Les Paul, but I knew I wanted to wait for the right one vs just buy a Traditional and I'm very glad I waited.

Almost bought one from him a year or so ago until I found out he won't ship to Canada due to CITES.

Big fan of the Faber stuff though.

I can understand owning six different Gibson Les Pauls but training a cat to guard them seems a bit extreme.

My 2001 R8 is right there with every hand made boutique/small builder guitars as well and about 50 other very nice guitars over 40 years of playing. She ain't the prettiest or flamiest I have owned but she resides at the top with one or two others.

His name is Wolverine. He likes his spot on the couch. He does have some sharp claws though.

I got my wonderful new Strat about a month ago, and did not put it down till today. Plugged in my old LP and damn! It's so rich and thick comparatively, I'd forgotten. It's not a custom shop, but I'd probably never know the difference. They nicely compliment each other.

I bought a Custom Shop VOS R8 to see if it was “all that” and while it was very nicely made I found that I liked the Heritage H-140 I have better. It feels better to hold and play and sounds at least as good, and is almost 2 lbs lighter.

When I play my R8, I feel a connection to the past and a lot of music that I love dearly...that’s an inspiring thing to me, and it pushes me to play my best when I have it in my hands. Incredibly comfortable and balanced (8.3 pounds fwiw), and just sounds glorious. I love my other guitars, so it’s hard to ever pick a favorite...but I do feel fortunate to own this one :)

Trust me, it’s an exaggerated claim.

    Emotion....it's what drives communication.

And it would truly be such a boring world without varied opinions?
