For those that love Korina guitars... show... then tell!!!
I don't have all of these anymore... but I def have korina love
    • I love the wood in a natural finish... just looks beautiful to me
    • I love the snappy mid forward sound... it inherently seems to have more of that tele on steroids sound of the original bursts imho. Not all korina guitars sound great though... i played one that was just meh...not terrible but nothing special... but the good ones are typically great ones.
    • In 2009 per edwin wilson, Gibson had a batch of really nice clear korina which they made their 50th anniversary V's and Explorers... but then they did a handful of unique 2-3 guitar runs.

I found out about Ron’s amazing guitars on the old birds and moons forum. I wanted a replacement for the old hamer special I had to sell due to hand issues. Had p90s when I got it, but now I’ve got it loaded with Duncan firebirds

Being hooked on thorn I jumped at the chance for his junior 90 build. This hard tail is amazing and has the fabulous stapletops and my preferred 25” scale. Someone canceled and order and I was all over it.

prototype junior 90 trem with koi paisley. Loved the hardtail, wanted. A trem. When I saw the silver koi on black I lost my sheeet.

    Thorn SoCal CS 012
25-1/2 scale rawk machine. Korina body AND neck, Rons brilliant bolt on neck joint and bucker, Blackwood board and a ‘go baby go’ volume control. Siiiick!!!

This is a special 40th birthday from some important people. Stunned.
    Utterly amazing guitar

Niceness! Black limba is my favorite wood for guitars. Got a couple in the stable:

Kiesel V6 Vader - buckeye burl top with a black limba neck and body:

Some gorgeous guitars in this thread. I'd have to agree in that black korina is one of the, if not the, nicest aesthetic choices. I built a Warmoth Tele last summer with a swamp ash body. My next build will be Black Korina! How would you describe the tone? I've heard it described as a more mid mahogany.

Very nice neck that is like a slightly smaller verson of the wide/fat neck.
    Mean 90 pickups.

    Wow!

that flamed Korina is amazing! Roman has quite the history (in lp circles) dating back to 80’s Sunset Blvd and Max Baranet. Bet he has some crazy wood stashed away.
